Bring your passion for community to a Localworks committee

As an organization, Localworks relies on committees to give input to initiatives and programs and to help evaluate success. In order to join a committee you must become a member. Then talk to the committee chair about their committee to see if you might be a good fit and if there are any current openings. The chair information and committee meeting times are below.


Chair: David Schafer
Meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of the month
1:00pm-2:00pm at Localworks Office

This committee is charged with giving input to the budget and advising on financial programs.  The finance committee may also sit as the Loan Committee and review loan recommendations.

Skills sought: Familiarity with financial reports, real estate transactions, or lending is desired.

Partners in Progress

Chair: Kathleen Martell
Meetings as needed
8:00-9:15am, 1st Wednesday of the month at Localworks Office

Partners in Progress is a movement of people working to garner support for Localworks policy resolutions and gathering information about issues throughout the community for consideration and collaboration. This committee also supports the Wheaties Academy.

Skills sought: commitment to Localworks mission, diplomacy, community connections, communication skills, interest in public policy.

Community Building Events

Chair: Joy Opp
Meetings as needed

This committee plans and supports Localworks events such as Welcome to Wheat Ridge Tour, Realtor Tour, Mid Century and Modern Tour, and Live Local Wheat Ridge. Each event will have an Event Chair or Subcommittee Chair.  In all activities the team works to ensure community leaders are being identified, encouraged and equipped. Events are evaluated on return on investment and community building impact. All activities must serve the mission of Localworks.

Skills sought:  Event planning, marketing, public relations, business connections, communication, social media, advertising, media, restaurant connections, ability to follow through on tasks, vendor relationships, and friends you will invite to events.

Communication Advisors Team

Meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of the month
8:00-9:00am at Localworks Office

This team brings a variety of perspectives and expertise to the organization’s communication. The team provides input, connections, and practical application to all forms of media used by Localworks. We seek to be connected to the community in all sorts of ways and measure our effectiveness.

Skills sought:  Public relations, marketing, writing, social media, public presentations, design, media relations, community connections

Fund Development Committee

Chair: Karin Kirby

Meetings on the 2nd Thursday of the month at Localworks Office

This team brings a variety of perspectives and expertise to the organization’s fund development plan. The team helps raise revenue for Localworks.

Skills sought:  Fundraising, marketing, community connections, dedication to the mission of Localworks
