Bring your passion for community to a Localworks committee

As an organization, Localworks relies on committees to give input to initiatives and programs and to help evaluate success. In order to join a committee you must become a member. Then talk to the committee chair about their committee to see if you might be a good fit and if there are any current openings. The chair information and committee meeting times are below.

Communication Advisors Team

This team brings a variety of perspectives and expertise to the organization’s communication. The team provides input, connections, and practical application to all forms of media used by Localworks. We seek to be connected to the community in all sorts of ways and measure our effectiveness.

Community Engagement

Community Engagement

When: Meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of the month 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Localworks office

The Community Engagement Committee is focused on outreach and relationship building with residents, property owners, business owners, community organizations, business organizations and the surrounding communities. The goal is to collaborate with ambassadors of Localworks to engage and retain members, volunteers, sponsors and partnerships.

Finance

When: Meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of the month 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Localworks office

This committee is charged with giving input on the budget and advising on financial programs. The finance committee may also serve as the Loan Committee and review loan recommendations.

Skills sought: Familiarity with financial reports • Real estate transactions or lending is desired.

Fund Development

This team brings a variety of perspectives and expertise to the organization’s fund development plan. The team helps raise contributed revenue for Localworks.

Individual Community Building Event Committees

When: Monthly meetings as needed

These committees plan and support Localworks events such as Friday Night Live, Welcome to Wheat Ridge Tour, Realtor Tour, and Mid Century and Modern Tour. In all activities the team works to ensure community leaders are identified, encouraged and equipped. Events are evaluated on return on investment and community building impact. All activities must serve the mission of Localworks.

Live Local Committees – Harvest and Active

Localworks Harvest celebrates Wheat Ridge’s agricultural history through classes, workshops, tours, and festivals. Localworks Active encourages Wheat Ridge residents to get and stay active through free fitness opportunities. They also connect residents with fitness businesses throughout Wheat Ridge.

Partners in Progress

Partners in Progress

When: Meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month 7:45 – 9:15 a.m. at Localworks office

Partners in Progress is a movement of people working to garner support for Localworks policy resolutions and gathering information about issues throughout the community for consideration and collaboration. This committee also supports the Wheaties Academy.

Real Estate

The Real Estate Committee helps formulate the framework through which Localworks evaluates opportunities, elevates target areas and identifies regulatory changes needed as relates to real estate in Wheat Ridge. Additionally, this committee provides research and vetting for purchasing and holding Localworks’ real estate assets.
