STAFF ACCOUNTANT SUMMARY

George T. Sanders Company (GTS) is a family-owned company operating plumbing and heating

distribution centers throughout Colorado and Wyoming. Established in 1950, GTS is Colorado’s

largest independent distributor of plumbing and heating supplies. GTS offers great work-life

The Staff Accountant will focus on core accounting duties and will work to continuously improve

process and enhance system and process controls. The successful candidate will be an organized

self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and will report directly to the Chief Financial

Officer.

STAFF ACCOUNTANT PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform daily cash entries and reconciliations

Participate in monthly close process, including recurring journal entries and reconciliations

Assist with company budget and forecast

Calculate and book monthly sales tax journal entries

Maintain fixed asset records

Prepare annual income tax schedules for external tax return preparers

Coordinate the annual property tax filing process

Support AP function as needed

STAFF ACCOUNANT ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Handle IRS, State of Colorado, and local government correspondence

Maintain the payroll tax accrual spreadsheet

Maintain accounting records for property management entities

Stay current on accounting and tax developments

Requirements

STAFF ACCOUNTANT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

2 years of accounting experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, business or a related field

Strong Excel skills CPA license preferred Experience with sales tax in Colorado preferred
